Raaga aviary protocols:

Raaga aviary protocols:
Avian husbandry and cleanliness:

We alternately spray virkon s @ 5 gms in one liter of water and korsolin th @ 2 ml per liter of water.... We spray it in and around the aviary on the bird, on the nestbox ... etc.
We spray two different antiviral sprays because a few strains of virus can become resistant to a particular spray... Using different sprays help in better management.
We do it atleast 4 times a week.

Ectomin 100 ec is sprayed @ 1 ml per liter of water for external pests like ticks and lice once in 3 months and repeated after a week.

We also mix neem and turmeric and tulsi/basil paste in water once a week. We also provide neem, curry leaves and drumstick branches for our birds to chew on.
It acts like a dewormer, disinfectant, and an antibiotic even when you have chicks.

The above should be done meticulously especially if you have African lovebirds as they are prone to pox.

We spray ectomin (anti tick and mite spray) on the bird, in the cage, around the cage, on the nestbox and inside the box ( only when there are no chicks, else the chicks will die due to the pungent fumes).

We also use neem twigs In The nestbox as its a natural disinfectant.
